When we decide to make changes for a positive in our life it's because we feel that what we're doing at the current time is bad, or at least not right. We need to build up the dislike towards what we are wanting to change. Otherwise we end up not continuing in our efforts towards a positive life change because we don't see a need to.
The need to change is always strong, we just may not realize it at times due to distractions in our lives. We must make sure to keep an eye out for possible distractions in which contradict what we are trying to change.
Building an extreme dislike for the behavior you were once apart of is the only way to keep the change. Take a alcoholic for example, when they quit drinking they notice that things are getting worse due to their re-accuring pain and pressure to drink again.
However, we must remain insight of our ultimate goal. The reason for quitting what we now dislike is another large part of staying with the process of quitting.
Our lives depend upon stability, when we don't have it they tend to dissipate rapidly. Whether in an emotional, physical, or even a mental sense.
Try keeping people close to you who will help you in your effort and are willing to undergo the after affects of your difficult choice. We must remain strong for those undergoing stress for they are doing it for us who are around them.
